The Oratorio dell’ Angelo Custode will once again host during the last week of July the Lucca International Festival and Summer Academy organized by St. John’s University in New York in collaboration with the Institute Musicale R. Baralli. All is directed by the Italian American Linda DiMartino Wetherill, Professor at St. John’s University. An international competition, now in its 7th year, discovers new music for composers and performers , with concerts in Lucca and New York. The price of participation is €500 for Italian students, including lodging in Lucca and all activities: seminars, lesson, concerts, and workshops in chjamber music, composition, improvisation and Baroque music. The activities begin July 24 and close on the 31st at the Oratorio and also at Institute R. Baralli. At 10 a.m. are presentations from the resident composers; at 16:00 are master classes and discussions; every evening at 21:00 are concerts.
Sunday, July 31st, we will have the closing concert at 17:30 p.m. with composers of cluster performed by its artistic director, Girolamo Deraco and his group from Lucca: Etymos Ensemble.
